Based on the Yamaha Ténéré 700, the Japanese company has created the new Yamaha Ténéré 700 World Raid, a much more equipped version that wants to offer a world of possibilities to anyone looking for adventure on two wheels.
With 40 years of history behind them, Yamaha’s adventure bikes have obviously evolved, right up to the last generation, which is based on the 689 cc 54 kW CP2 engine: today the Ténéré has become one of the references for those looking for a light, versatile trail bike with a strong off-road character.
No doubt is a bike with generous capabilities for those who love motorcycle tourism, without thinking about what kind of terrain it has to face. For this the Japanese brand has chosen to integrate state-of-the-art suspensions che improves confidence and riding comfort on long journeys, along with new multimodal instrumentation and unrivaled style inspired by rally bikes.
To create a true adventure bike, capable of covering long distances on any type of terrain, Yamaha has equipped this World Raid version with very special equipment. For starters, it hits its double fuel tank with a capacity of 23 liters installed on the sides . A tank that, depending on the brand, can give you autonomy up to 500 km. By having two separate tanks at a lower height and placing the fuel pump lower on one of the tanks, the center of gravity of the bike is almost the same as that of the standard Ténéré 700, which has a capacity of 7 liters less. Obviously there is some weight gain but it doesn’t impact her agility.
This low position of the tanks also reduces the drop between the tank and the saddle, so that the profile is flatter and improves the mobility of the rider in off-road riding. The seat is particularly flat and sits at a height of 890 mm, meaning ergonomics are improved both when sitting and standing. Additionally, the dual tank system means that fuel fluctuation varies very little compared to a single tank, which is especially popular when cornering.
The seat, being designed in two pieces, allows you to easily disassemble the rear part to install accessories such as a grill or to gain space for carrying luggage. In addition, the coating has two textures, one with a high support in the center and a softer one that facilitates movement.
Yamaha Ténéré 700 World Raid, here are the other news for adventurers
The Yamaha Ténéré 700 World Raid has a new new instrumentation which is now based on a 5 ″ TFT color screen, connected to the communication unit of the bike which is in turn connected to the application Yamaha MyRide.
The Yamaha Ténéré 700 World Raid also incorporates electronic improvements over its range sisters, as it features a new system 3-mode ABS selectable when the bike is stationary via a special menu on the indicator, which is operated with a button on the right handlebar. Mode 1 keeps ABS on both wheels, while Mode 2 keeps ABS at the front and turns it off at the rear. Finally, mode 3 completely deactivates the ABS on both wheels. An option that more experienced off-road riders will appreciate.
The cycling part also makes a difference. Features a new front fork High-performance 43mm KYB with 230mm of wheel travel, 20mm more than the standard Ténéré 700. It allows adjustments of preload, rebound and compression, as well as the air vent screw already installed on the Ténéré 700. The fork, in addition, to obtain longer life with less internal friction, has a durable Kashima coating applied to the outer dark bronze tube.
At the rear, it was chosen a redesigned rear suspension system to match the new front fork, with a new linkage with a separate, longer-stroke reservoir shock. It has 20 mm more travel than the standard version, is fully adjustable in both preload and rebound and compression, and is made of aluminum for better heat dissipation.
But there are other innovations in the suspension section, because to have more control in off-road driving, it is included of series an Öhlins steering damper easy to adjust quickly as it is mounted near the upper forks.
