LEGO Vespa 125: the Italian icon becomes a brick

The LEGO Group and Vespa celebrate the excellence of Made in Italy with the new LEGO Vespa 125 set: a style icon in brick format

When two excellences meet, surprising ideas can only be born. On the one hand, the LEGO groupwhich for 90 years has inspired the builders of tomorrow through the power of play on the other Vespaa symbol of Italian creativity and design since 1946: together, the two great brands present LEGO Vespa 125fruit of the genius of the designers of their respective teams.

A project, the one dedicated to the new LEGO Vespa 125 set, created to celebrate the engineering and stylistic avant-garde of Vespa, the most loved two-wheeler ever, capable of creating and bringing a cultural and elegant phenomenon to the roads around the world. Just like the original, the LEGO brick model, which will be available from March 1st, is packed with refined details, such as the bouquet of flowers in the basket on the back, the spare wheel, the removable engine hood, the handlebar with steering wheel and the kickstand. The chosen color palette also expresses the exclusivity of the concept: the pastel blue hue is a reference to the shades of the 60s and the Vespa world and is very rarely used within the LEGO lines; moreover, it is the first time that a wheel composed of two colors appears in the world of bricks: black for the rubber and white for the inside of the tire.

LEGO Vespa 125: the words of the creators

Florian Muller, Senior Designer of the LEGO Group

Working with the Piaggio team to create this two-wheeled masterpiece was an incredible experience! The design part of the set that impressed me most was the reproduction of the details of the original model, an opportunity to celebrate the classic 1960s Vespa. In the conception phase, this model took me back in time, inspiring my imagination and creativity. We hope the experience is the same for the fans!

Marco Lambri, Head of Piaggio Group Design Center

Collaborating with LEGO was an extraordinary experience because it brought together two dreams, LEGO and Vespa, united by the infinite possibilities of expression that they can offer their fans. Two extraordinary brands capable of crossing different eras, always knowing how to reinvent themselves because in their DNA there is the ability to unite and build. As a designer, the challenge was to make the soft shapes of the Vespa coexist with those of the LEGO bricks, and it seems to me a challenge that was definitely won.

Marco Capone, General Manager of LEGO Italy

2022 is a very important year for us in the LEGO Group: we have been working hard for 90 years to inspire the creativity and imagination of the builders of tomorrow around the world. Today, we present and celebrate an icon of style and design, born more than 70 years ago from what we could define the highest expression of creativity… the same one that is so dear to our hearts. And that is why I am happy to renew and cement the collaboration with a partner of excellence such as Vespa with the launch of this set. We hope that more and more people will be able to give voice to their passions, follow their aspirations, to realize, brick by brick, projects that make the difference more and more.
