The first top of the range could soon arrive Samsung with a processor Mediatek: Galaxy S22 FE may have a new chip. So far Samsung has always uses its own chips Exynos or a processor manufactured by Qualcomm for the Galaxy S line.
Will Samsung Galaxy S22 FE Have a Mediatek Chip?
Samsung introduced the Fan Edition to provide an intermediate step between the mid-range of Galaxy A smartphones and the top-of-the-range Galaxy S series. But FE smartphones belong to the second category for how they are developed, for design, for suction. AND until today, for the brand of chips used.
According to the latest rumors reported by Business Korea, the next Galaxy S22 FE may have a Mediatek chip instead. And from next year, the most powerful version of these processors could also arrive on the line S23.
Mediatek is increasingly expanding its share of the smartphone processor market, reaching its share 33% in the last quarter of last quarter (Counterpoint data). More than Qualcomm with 30%, although the company is on the rise. The chips of Samsung are a long way off with 4% in the last three months of last year.
So the next FE could have a Mediatek chip, if confirmation of supplier change for Samsung arrives. But according to Business Korea, perhaps only a fraction of smartphones will have this chip, with the other half will use a Qualcomm processor instead. And the same goes for Galaxy S23 too.
But that’s all speculation at the moment. Samsung is expected to announce the new Galaxy FE later in the year. We will keep you informed of any news.
