The developers of Apple it would be testing internally at least 9 new Macs who use the chip of the new generation M2. The Cupertino company is said to be working on both a chip M2 ‘standard’as well as a successor for the version Max, Pro e Ultra.
Apple is testing 9 new Macs with M2 chips
The news comes from Mark Gurman at Bloomberg, which has long had reliable sources throughout the technological world but above all in the parts of Cupertino. Sources inside Apple report at least nine products currently in testing that will use the new technology chip Silicon.
Among these are some MacBooks. In particular, we can expect the arrival of a MacBook Air con chip M2 in versions from 8 core CPU e 10 GPU. A basic version of MacBook Pro yes 13 thumbs with chips M2. But Apple would also be testing a 14-inch Macbook Pro con chip M2 Pro and one from 16 inches con chip M2 Max, with 12 CPU cores and 38 GPU coreswith up to 64GB of unified memory.
But we should also see desktop computers as a new version of Mac mini con chip M2 e M2 Pro. Furthermore, Gurman explains that we should also see a Mac Pro with one enhanced version of M1 Ultra, the chip used in the Mac Studio. But it is currently unclear whether it will be part of the M1 or M2 family.
According to Gurman, Apple would also be testing a version of the Mac mini with whom M1 Max, but the release of the Mac Studio it would make commercial little sense to launch such a product.
The test phase plays a crucial role in the development of Apple products, but these products are likely in different phases of this test and will take different times to complete. In fact it looks like Apple can at least launch two Mac products at WWDC 2022 in June. In all likelihood, at least one of these two will have an M2 chip.
