Sony recently announced that the support from the VRR (variable refresh rate) for players PS5. Let’s find out all the details together.
Variable refresh rate support is coming to PS5
Sony stated that on TV e monitor per PC compatible with HDMI 2.1 VRR the variable refresh rate dynamically synchronizes the update rate of the display with the graphics output of the PS5 console.
This support improves visual performance PS5 games; also redit minimizes or eliminates visual artifacts (frame pacing and screen tearing problems). The update will make the game action a lot smoother e sharp.
Previously released PS5 games may be fully optimized for VRR via a game patch; upcoming games, however, may already include VRR support. Sony has revealed the titles that will receive the game patch that will enable support in the coming weeks. We report them below.

- Call of Duty: Vanguard;
- Call of Duty: Black Ops Cold War;
- Destiny 2;
- Devil May Cry 5 Special Edition;
- DIRT 5;
- Godfall;
- Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered;
- Marvel’s Spider-Man: Miles Morales;
- Ratchet & Clank: Rift Apart;
- Resident Evil Village;
- Tiny Tina’s Wonderlands;
- Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six Siege;
- Tribes of Midgard.
Upgrade coming soon
In the coming days, VRR will be available globally via a PS5 console update. Once the update is installed, the VRR it will activate automatically for supported games if the PS5 console will be connected to a compatible TV or PC monitor HDMI 2.1VRR. You can also turn it off in “Display & Video” in the system settings.
If you wish, you can also apply VRR to games that don’t support it; by doing so you will be able improve video quality of some titles. For more information on VRR settings, you can consult the official website.
