The Nearby Friends function was introduced by Facebook in 2014 and allows (or better said it allowed) to find out where your contacts are. As for the data relating to weather forecasts, however, Facebook considers this function to be outdated. In fact, users prefer to check forecasts through specific apps.
For the future, Facebook and Meta will focus on the metaverse. The upcoming news will therefore be linked to the new focus of the company. Unused functions will be progressively removed.
