And Trend Micro’s new report exposes beyond 200 app who steal Facebook passwords and gods wallet from Android smartphones. In fact, they contain within them Facestealer spyware and they have failed in hundreds of thousands of smartphones.
Apps that steal Facebook passwords and crypto wallets
The latest report from security company Trend Micro reports over 200 apps, which he identified as carriers of the Facestealer spyware. Not only, 40+ fake cryptocurrency mining appsinstead, they steal the sensitive data of your wallets, to rob you of the crypto you have collected.
The list includes over 240 potentially risky applications, but Trend Micro has named:
- Daily Fitness OL
- Enjoy Photo Editor
- Panorama Camera
- Photo Gaming Puzzle
- Swarm Photo
- Business Meta Manager
- Cryptomining Farm Your own Coin
All of these apps have been promptly eliminated from the Google Play Store as soon as Trend Micro announced its discovery, so don’t take the risk of downloading them now. However, if you have used them in the past you may have compromised your data.
So, in addition to deleting the applications from the list above, you should also change your Facebook password. And if you haven’t done so yet, enable two-factor authentication on the social platform. The same goes for your crypto wallets.
Also, if you have to download applications for VPN, photo editing and any other category among the apps listed, rely on well-known products reviewed by many users on the Play Store. The extra time spent evaluating the security of an app is always well spent in these cases. Safe alternatives are not lacking.
