There isn’t a month that Eagle Pictures leaves us hungry for home video releases, all to be enjoyed comfortably seated on the sofa in our house. Let’s see what is reserved for us for the month of June.
This June for us, loyal buyers of Eagle Pictures, will be an incredibly rich month between arthouse films, the latest Marvel anti-hero and two collectible souls.
Licorice Pizza
It starts from 8 June with Licorice Pizza by Paul Thomas Anderson, released in DVD and Blu-ray formats with a custom gadget inside and extra content, including making of and cut scenes.
Unforgettable ballad that tells the treacherous journey of first love between Alana and Gary growing up, running and falling in love in the San Fernando Valley. To act as the soundtrack to this story in images, we find the great music stars of the 70s.
The two rookie protagonists Alana Haim and Cooper Hoffman will be accompanied in memorable cameo roles by two-time Oscar winner Sean Penn, director and actor Bradley Cooper, Tom Waits and Benny Safdie.
Morbius
On June 15 it will be the turn of Morbius by Daniel Espinosa, available in the formats DVD, Blu-ray, 4K and in an unmissable 4K Steelbook with tons of extras and a collectible lenticular card present in all editions. In particular, the edition DVD will contain as extras the insights Definition of the anti-hero, The good, the ugly, the bad and Supporting Cast, while in those Blu-ray and 4K Set Errors, Lights, Camera, Action, Antihero Definition, The Good, the Bad, the Ugly, Supporting Cast, During Stunt Work, Nocturnal Easter Eggs and Human to Vampire and Visual Effects will be available.
The protagonist of the film, bears the face of Oscar winner Jared Leto, who returns to wear the role of a questionable anti-hero, but this time for Marvel: at the center of the story one of the most engaging and conflicting characters of the MCU, Michael MorbiusSuffering from a rare blood disease and determined to save those who suffer his own fate, Doctor Moribus takes a desperate gamble. An inner dark force, which at first appears as a decisive success, transforms him from healer to predator.
The portrait of the Duke
From June 23, however, we will have available, The Portrait of the Duke by Roger Michell, available in DVD e Blu-ray.
The film stars Jim Broadbent and Helen Mirren, here in the role of husband and wife in an irresistible British comedy based on a true story.
Indeed the film recalls the story of the only man in history who managed to breach the security of the National Gallery in London: it was 1961 and the taxi driver Kempton Bunton (Jim Broadbent) succeeded in the epic enterprise of stealing Francisco Goya’s portrait of the Duke of Wellington, for a noble purpose. As a “ransom” from the British government, Kempton asked for nothing more than the free television license fee for pensioners and war widows. The whole story emerged only 50 years later, becoming legendary.
The film reveals the hilarious plot of little lies and subterfuges through which Kempton, aided by his son, managed to evade the surveillance of all but his beloved wife (Helen Mirren). With a big final twist that tells us that things are almost never as they appear.
Two Yamato Collectible Videos
Also from 23 June it will be the turn of two unmissable Yamato Videos.
The first of these is Card Captor Sakura – The Movie by Morio Asaka and Terry Klassen, the first film starring the lively Sakura struggling with the magic cards created by the powerful sorcerer Clow Reed, published in an unmissable COMBO edition (with both DVD and Blu-ray format inside) accompanied by a booklet and a collector’s card numbered.
The protagonist of the story is Sakura Kinimoto, a fourth grade girl who is entrusted with the task of recovering some cards created by a powerful wizard, now scattered around the city, using special magical powers and the help of Kerberos, the keeper of the book in which these were sealed.
The first season of Yūki Yase’s Fire Force is also coming, starring the firefighters with special pyrokinetic powers, always available in limited first press edition in a 3 Blu-ray box and a 4 DVD box, both enriched by a limited edition numbered maxi card and two booklets in exclusive colors of 32 and 36 pages respectively, containing the original preparatory drawings, the galleries of the characters, illustrations, the backdrops and all the synopses of the episodes.
The story revolves around firefighters from the Fire Force, the only ones able to tame the flames that threaten the world thanks to their special pyrokinetic powers.
