Here is our review of Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 3: the Jedi is forced to face his past

Just five days away it’s time to again Obi-Wan Kenobi. The latter has become the most viewed Disney + original series on its debut weekend. This can only make the creators and all those who participated in the creation of Obi-Wan Kenobi proud. Today the third episode debuted, in which the protagonist has to deal with his past for the first time. Let’s go into the review of Obi-Wan Kenobi episode 3 now.

We all wondered during the first part of the episode. Watching Obi-Wan and Leia proceed to the meeting point on Mapuzo it seemed that the Mandalorian-Grogu pattern was being recreated already seen in The Mandalorian, in which the adult accompanies the child with the fear that he could make a disaster at any moment. Given the end of the episode, it seems that this pattern will not repeat itself, at least not soon. Little Leia proves to be much more cooperative than Grogu and much smarter than her, igniting in Obi-Wan the memories of her mother, Padmé. Although this part of the episode appears a little slower, she is actually rhythmized by the clips with Reva and Darth Vader, first shown in all its magnificence and terrifying allure, which has not appeared aged since its last appearance in Rogue One. Obi-Wan, on the other hand, appears increasingly lost, as he is unable to communicate with the master Qui-Gon, who died in Episode I – The Phantom Menace, and increasingly convinced that he is as alone in the galaxy as ever. The situation will change with the meeting with Tala (Indira Varma), who leads them to a hideout where many Jedi before him have taken refuge. Hope is rekindled in the protagonist’s eyes. Just for a moment though: evil is about to knock on his door.
“I am what you made me” | Review Obi-Wan Kenobi episodio 3
The time has come. After discovering that Anakin did not die on Mustafar ten years earlier, Obi-Wan meets his old apprentice on the planet Mapuzo, while trying to make Leia escape the planet. This moment was without a doubt the most anticipated of the entire series and it seems strange how it has already happened in the third episode. Although the tension is built in an excellent way, from the moment Obi-Wan senses Vader hiding with Leia and Tala, something seems to be missing. The Jedi master escapes from the confrontation with the Lord of the Sith and above all does not speak to him almost at all. After ten years in which he believed him dead, after seeing him definitively give in to the dark side, it seems impossible that Obi-Wan has nothing to say except “What have you become?”to which Vader responds promptly “I am what you made me” (“I am what you made me”). These two sentences summarize what the Sith Lord feels about his old master, while we learn nothing new about how Obi-Wan feels about him. The ensuing confrontation is highly spectacular and also represents the first lightsaber clash in the new era of Disney + series. For the real rematch of the century we will have to wait a little longer.
Conclusions
This third episode is slightly subdued compared to the first two. Despite a exciting startwith the parallel between Obi-Wan and Darth Vader, stumbles in the pivotal moment. The clash between the two happens too soon and too hastily within the narrative, leaving us waiting for a real rematch in one of the next three episodes. The pace remains excellentwith great action scenes in the first half and the charm of the Empire and Darth Vader in the second. The hope is that, from now on, the series will remain focused on Obi-Wan and that the pivotal will not become just any on-screen appearance of Vader, spectacular as it is..
Unfortunately, there is also a sore point that does not concern the episode. In recent days, actress Moses Ingram, who plays Reva / Third Sister in the series, has been inundated with racist slurs on her social media profiles. Both the official Star Wars page and Ewan McGregor have released messages of support for the actress and condemnation of all those who have insulted and threatened her. We stand on their side against hatred and support Moses Ingram and all Obi-Wan Kenobi crew.
