Microsoft has just confirmed a new issue caused by the latest cumulative updates, released by the company as part of Patch Tuesday

The company states:
After installing the June 14, 2022 Windows update, or a later update, shadow copy operations (create or delete) on an application server, which runs VSS-aware server applications, which store data on remote SMB 3.0 or later file shares may fail for SMB shares hosted on a File Server.
After theinstalling the update, from Windows of June 14, 2022 or laterbackup applications may receive the error: E_ACCESSDENIED when performing operations related to creating shadow copies. Additionally, an event is logged FileShareShadowCopyAgent 1013, in the canal Microsoft-Windows-FileShareShadowCopyAgent/Operational (enabled by default) on the File Server.
What is causing all of this
There are several reasons for which the problem could occur and, Microsoft states that in some cases the operation of creating the copia shadow, fails if theApplication Server is performing a previous version (prior to the June 14 release) or the File Server has already been upgraded.
It goes without saying that in this case the solution is pretty simple: users only need to install the latest updates on theApplication Server e sul File Server. Also, the same error could occur if the account used for copy operations does not match the privilege requirements for administrators or backup operators.
Finally, Microsoft claims that the same problem could occur when the account used to perform the shadow copy operation is a account locale which has only Administrator or Backup Operator privileges on the File Server.
