As has been happening for several days now, the price of fuel, both diesel and gasoline, is well over 2 euros per liter. This despite the cut in excise duties which the Government has decided to extend until 2 August. A “due” intervention not to see prices soar to almost 2.50 euros per liter.
This could be the first step to contain fuel prices, even if a more “decisive” government intervention was expected from many quarters. In fact, one of the hypotheses to counter expensive fuels is put a cap on the price of petrol and diesel for two months. This possibility should come within a amendment to the Aid Decree which will be presented by the PD in committee in the House. Clearly, in order to see it in operation, the Government issues a new Dpcm that establishes the maximum price of fuel for the next two months. To define this “ceiling” should be the Minister of Ecological Transition and that of Economic Development.
