According to the latest rumors, the chip Apple M2 Pro could have a process a 3 nanometers, developed by the Taiwanese company TSMC. An important technological innovation that Apple should also adopt for the next generation of processors, the M3.
Apple M2 Pro, the chip will be 3 nanometers
According to reports from Taiwanese newspaper DigiTimes, Apple has booked TSMC’s 3-nanometer production lines to build the upcoming M2 Pro chips and possibly M3s as well of the next generation. Scale production is expected to start in the second half of 2022.
The M2 Pro processor should get therethe 14 and 16-inch MacBook Pros, as well as for a high-end configuration of Mac mini. Instead it looks like Apple may be using M3 starting as early as next year for MacBook Air 13-inch, for a new model of Air da 15“, For a new iMac and also for a potential 12-inch MacBook (which we do not know if it will be an Air or not).
The Korean source does not confirm this directly, but it appears that too M2 Max will have a 3nm process. This processor will be in the 16-inch MacBook Pro and possibly an updated version of the Mac Studio, should Apple decide to produce it.
Many industry insiders expected the M3 to bring this technological innovation. But so far no one had suspected that the M2 Pro and Max might have a three-nanometer process, but were instead developed on the same 5nm process seen on M2.
