“There has to be a way, at all costs,” an anonymous fan thought after sending a series of emails (at least those were free) to Nintendo, asking for a new game in the F-Zero franchise. After numerous unsuccessful attempts here is the “brilliant intuition”: buy enough shares to attend the shareholders’ meeting and ask for clarification in person. The expense of getting the meeting invitation? About 5 million yen, equal to just under 40 thousand euros. After all, money does not bring happiness, but a video game does.
Will it be worth it? Nintendo’s response to a hypothetical F-Zero sequel
Insider reports that the fan confessed to buying 100 Nintendo shares earlier this year. All just to ask the president Shuntaro Furukawa if the company had considered the relaunch of some videogame titles.
According to Insider Furukaka would have responded by saying: “It is really difficult to develop new titles and remakes, including sequels, for every Nintendo game that people ask for. However, we are very grateful, and appreciate the expectations our fans place for our titles. At the moment we don’t know if there will be a sequel to F-Zero, but we assure you that during the development phases we always think about all the possibilities.“. A polite answer, but certainly vague. Certainly not what the fan in question was hoping to hear.
Originally launched in 1990, F-Zero has gone on to spawn a large number of sequels, although the last one dates back as far as 2004 (F-Zero Climax). Despite this, one of the protagonists of the franchise, Captain Falcon, was a pillar of the Super Smash Bros series. Hope, however, is the last to die: Earlier this year Reggie Fils-Aimé, former Nintendo No. 1, said that it is not excluded that the company will develop a new sequel to F-Zer.o.
