The smartphone that all tech enthusiasts have been waiting for has arrived: Carl Pei officially announced Nothing Phone (1). A smartphone that uses the innovative interfaccia Glyph, to communicate with the back cover as well. Which has the new operating system Nothing OS based on Android. Which has totaled over 200,000 pre-orders and has reached offers of up to $ 3,000 for the first 100 units sold. The original design and Glyph interface
From the London stage, Carl Pei showed a device with a truly unique style. And seeing it closely confirms the impression. The transparent glass back Gorilla Glass 5 it is ‘new’: we have no better way to define it. An idea that everyone could have had but that no one has really put into practice.

Under the rear glass you will find the Glyph interface, designed to communicate even without looking at the smartphone screen. One scheme consisting of 900 LEDs that you can customize to show notifications, calls, charge status and more. You can also choose custom light notifications for contacts.
And using Flip to Glyph you can even activate silent and bright only notifications by simply placing your smartphone with the screen on the table. We also immediately admired how it turns on when recharging and how it can be done use LEDs for photographs, with the possibility of enabling a red LED light during video shooting, for a truly sublime retro taste.
The technical characteristics of Nothing Phone (1)
Nothing worked side by side with Qualcomm to make the Snapdragon 778G + version, which offers a great user experience and also allows for wireless charging. A processor that promises to be able to balance performance and energy efficiency. Do not miss the 5Gnor the ability to go all out with the Game Mode.
Lo screen instead is a 6.55-inch OLED suitable for HDR10 +, which takes full advantage of the deep contrasts and rich colors of this technology. The 120Hz adaptive refresh rate should please gamers and casual users alike.
On the photographic level Nothing Phone (1) has features that we like to call ‘honest’ for the price. There are in fact only two cameras, but they are both 50MP: no sensors that are not very useful just to boast of having multiple cameras. The principal is a Sony IMX766, with dual stabilization and 10bit color video. We still have to test it, we will tell you what we think in the review that we will publish as soon as possible. Above all, we’re curious to use Glyph light for darker scenes and portraits.
Finally, Nothing Phone (1) with a 4,500mAh battery promises an autonomy of 18 hours of use, with 33W fast charging capable of reaching 50% in 30 minutes. Then there is the ricarica wireless, a convenient feature that is always disappearing from the mid-range. What’s new in Nothing OS
We haven’t had a chance to test yet Nothing OS in full, so we won’t go beyond what Carl Pei told everyone from the stage (which first impressions confirm). Nothing promises an Android experience without bloatware (hard to find even in the top of the range), with pure speed.
But with a visual language made dwidgets, wallpapers, sounds customizable to the maximum and in line with the design of the smartphone. Nothing has also promised software optimization to manage the energy efficiency of apps, with dedicated resources.
Also the Nothing Ecosystem wants to allow you to control all our electronic devices without separate applications. Not just the Ear (1) but several products of many brands, all in the settings using Bluetooth at its maximum. One of first collaborations is with Tesla, to allow you to unlock doors, turn on the air conditioning and more with Nothing Phone (1). More brands coming soon.

Nothing Phone (1): price and availability
The new Phone (1) arrives on the Italian market with three different models, in two colors: black and white. You can buy the version:

Sales of Phone (1) will start on July 21st at 8:00 am on the nothing.tech website.
