Oppenheimer is the new film by Christopher Nolan and pending its release, the official teaser of the film has been unveiled
There is no denying it: the expectation for Oppenheimer is skyrocketing. Three years after Tenet, Cristopher Nolan will make his return to theaters next summer with the film that tells the life of the American physicist Robert Oppenheimer, played by a loyal director as Cillian Murphy. The film is based on the novel American Prometheus by Kai Bird and Martin J. Sherwin and will see the light in 2023. In the meantime, the teaser has been released that does nothing but increase the hype around one of the most acclaimed products of the coming year.
Oppenheimer’s teaser
The short clip leading up to the film essentially shows Cillian Murphy as Oppenheimer, wearing a hat and staring out the window. Meanwhile, a countdown announces the time left until the film is released, or rather when the world will change forever. The black and white images are alternated with others that show flames with orange tones, a clear reference to the protagonist of the film.
The physicist is in fact known mainly for the conception of the atomic bomb, used by the United States to end World War II. We know well how, as part of the Manhattan project, the US dropped the two nuclear weapons on the cities of Hiroshima and Nagasaki, bending Japan’s resistance and forcing it to surrender, effectively marking the end of the conflict.
Alongside Cillian Murphy there will be a cast of the highest level. The film features Emily Blunt, in the role of Kitty Oppenheimer, Florence Pugh (Jean Tatlock), Matt Damon (Lieutenant General Leslie Groves) and Robert Downey Jr. (Lewis Strauss). The film is scheduled to be released in Italian cinemas on 20 July 2023.
Nolan’s twelfth effort
Oppenheimer will be the twelfth film directed by Cristopher Nolan in his extraordinary career. Over time, the British director has become one of the most loved and respected filmmakers of the 21st century, as well as one of the highest-grossing directors in the history of cinema. The debut behind the camera dates back to 1998, with Following, then two masterpieces such as Memento and Insomnia.
In 2005 the first chapter of the Dark Knight trilogy arrives, in which Nolan pays homage to one of the most famous characters in comics like Batman, and obtains an incredible success in terms of critics and audiences. In between the three bat films are two other key films such as The Prestige and Inception. After the last chapter of the Dark Knight trilogy, Nolan made Interstellar, Dunkirk and Tenet.
Now Cristopher Nolan is ready to give the world his twelfth effort, hoping to finally be able to take home an Oscar after five nominations obtained with Memento, Inception and Dunkrik, without ever having managed to triumph.
