Still an interesting preview from Mark Gurman. In the latest issue of the “Power On” newsletter, the Bloomberg expert stated that the new models of MacBook Pro 14 and 16 inch with chip M2 Pro e M2 Max they are “under development and testing”. Apparently, therefore, there would be the possibility of officially seeing them on the market by the end of 2022.
MacBook Pro with M2 Pro and M2 Max chips: expected launch later this year
In recent weeks, Apple’s production seems unstoppable. According to recent claims by Mark Gurman, the company could launch the new MacBook Pro with M2 Pro and M2 Max chips “as early as this fall”. A date that, however, could suffer slight delays due to supply chain disruption or other production related issues. Despite this, the hypothesis of a launch by the end of 2022 also seems to be confirmed by the analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, according to which the series production of the notebooks will begin in the fourth quarter of the year.
Beyond this, it is interesting to note that while some reports suggest that the M2 Pro and M2 Max chips may be Apple’s first 3nm chips, it seems increasingly likely that these remain at 5 nm. If so, there will still be performance improvements over the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips, as Apple is expected to switch from the TSMC “N5” standard 5nm process to its own. more advanced 5nm process known as “N5P”. Also, like the standard M2 chip, the M2 Pro and M2 Max may also have a higher number of GPU cores and RAM compared to their M1 equivalents.
No major design changes have been announced for the 14-inch and 16-inch MacBook Pros, which is hardly surprising given that the notebooks launched with a completely revamped design in October 2021. New features included the addition of MagSafe and HDMI ports, the notch on the display for an updated 1080p camera and thinner bezels. At this point, therefore, we just have to see what will be the novelties of the equipment of the new M2 Pro and M2 Max.
