The vegan and skinless interior will become a reference of the BMW and MINI range in the course of 2023. In fact, the company intends to launch the first solutions of this type over the next few months, with the aim of making vehicle development even more sustainable. It should also be noted that this choice also involves a reduction in emissions (up to 85%) for the production of internal components that will exploit vegan materials.
Uwe Köhler, Head of Bodywork Development, Exterior Cladding, Interior of the BMW Group, declares: “With a steering wheel made of a high quality vegan material, we satisfy the wishes of our customers who do not want to compromise in terms of looks, feel and functionality. This innovative material resists wear caused by abrasion, sweat and humidity and has all the desirable properties of leather “
