Gamers from all over the world, it’s that day of the year. The one in which NVIDIA presents the new GPUs with the series GeForce RTX 40 that is preparing to take the place of the 30 series in the hearts of all of us gamers. The price, however, continues to be high, with the RTX 4090 which will land on the market a $ 1,599.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 40: What’s New?
The GeForce RTX 40 series is the first to be based on the new architecture of NVIDIA, baptized There’s Lovelace in honor of the first programmer in history. We are facing a huge generational leap in terms of performance and efficiency, also thanks to neural rendering and ray-tracing in real time.
“The era of RTX ray tracing and neural rendering is in full growth and revolutionizing the industry, our new Ada Lovelace architecture represents an evolution that takes everything to the next level,” he said. Jensen Huang, founder and CEO of NVIDIA, at the GeForce Beyond: Special Broadcast at GTC. – Ada offers a quantum leap in performance for gamers and paves the way for creators of fully simulated worlds. With performance up to four times higher than the previous generation, Ada sets a new standard for the industry. “
To accompany Ada Lovelace we find NVIDIA DLSS3, the company’s new generation of Deep Learning Super Sampling, based on artificial intelligence e capable of generating entire frames to increase the speed and fluidity of the game, exceeding the limits of the CPU.
This technology will be integrated into the most popular game engines in the world, such as Unity and Unreale Engine, receiving the support of the world’s leading video game developers who have over 35 games and apps in the pipeline that can take advantage of DLSS3.
All this brings us to the aforementioned RTX Series 40, which they exploit streaming multiprocessors with up to 83 teraflops shader power, more than 2 times higher than the previous generation. We then have the 3rd generation RT Cores, with up to 191 effective ray-traced teraflops, and the Tensor Core fourth generation, which reaches 1.32 petaflop Tensor.
Lo Shader Execution Reordering (SER) instead, it improves execution efficiency by instantly reprogramming shading workloads to make better use of GPU resources. The result? Three times the ray tracing performance and 25% higher frame rates.
The ADA optical flow accelerator makes its debut, enabling DLSS 3 to predict the movement of a scene, while architectural enhancements, coupled with custom TSMC 4N process technology, deliver up to two times the leap in energy efficiency .
The dual NVIDIA encoders (NVENC) finally cut export times by up to half and offer AV1 support, adopted by OBS, Blackmagic Design DaVinci Resolve, Discord and many others.
The new generation of NVIDIA GPUs, as anticipated, promises improvements on the ray tracing frontwith third-generation RT Cores delivering double the quality of beam rendering and including two major new hardware units: a Opacity Micromap Enginewhich accelerates ray-tracing of alpha-test geometry twice, and a Micro-Mesh Enginewhich generates micro-meshes instantly to ensure additional geometry.
Portal con RTX
To exploit all this will be Portal con RTX, a DLC that will bring ray tracing within Valve’s iconic gamereimagined by NVIDIA Lightspeed Studios using Remix RTX.
Portal with RTX will be available free in November, just in time for Portal’s 15th anniversary.
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 and 4080: the new latest generation GPUs
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 becomes today the fastest GPU in the worldwith DLSS 3 making it four times faster than the RTX 3090 Ti with DLSS 2. It is also up to 2 times faster in current games, while maintaining the same 450W power consumption.
Onboard 76 billion transistors, 16,384 CUDA cores and 24 GB of high-speed Micron GDDR6X memory. All this to deliver over 100 frames per second in 4K resolution games.
The RTX 4090 will be available from October 12 starting at $ 1,599.
There are also the RTX 4080 16GB e la RTX 4080on the market in November respectively a 1,199 and 899 dollars.
The GeForce RTX 4090 and 4080 GPUs will be available as custom cards, including stock-clocked and factory-overclocked models, from top card suppliers such as ASUS, Colorful, Gainward, Galaxy, GIGABYTE, Innovision 3D, MSI, Palit, PNY and Zotac.
The RTX 4090 and RTX 4080 (16GB) will also be produced directly by NVIDIA in Founders limited editions for fans who want NVIDIA’s design.
Finally, the GeForce RTX Series 40 GPUs will be available in gaming systems made by Acer, Alienware, ASUS, Dell, HP, Lenovo and MSI.
