Twitter is working on a function for block mentions, controlling who can tag you in comments and posts. This way you no longer have to ask “Don’t @ me” but you can directly prevent some users from mentioning you just to get your attention.
Twitter prepares a feature to block mentions
The app researcher Jane Manchun Wong he had found lines of code in the Twitter code that suggested how the social network was preparing the new feature. The ability to block who can mention you will actually change how the platform works. The new feature shown in the now deleted screenshot shows that you can choose whether get mentioned by anyone, only the people who follow you or block them altogether. For individual cases of harassment, however, there is always the option to report the person to the moderators.
This feature marks the first time that Twitter has allowed you to limit the number of people who can mention you. In 2020, however, Twitter had debuted a measure for limit comments to your tweets only to those who follow you and who is mentioned. And recently Twitter Circles gave the possibility to show some tweets to a small number of people.
