Mark Zuckerberg touches it slowly, and explaining how Meta Quest Pro aiming to keep prices low, he hasn’t held back from throwing a little dig at Apple. The head and founder of Meta (formerly Facebook) explained that his viewer is based on a different business plan than the one in Cupertino. Here are the words of him during an interview for Stratechery.com
“Apple builds its own hardware and charges it as much as possible. Our view is different. We will sell our headsets at the production price if not at a lower price. We will break even or even make a slight loss, but we will help grow the entire ecosystem. Our business model is based on the sale of hardware but also and above all on services ”.

Meta Quest Pro: Mark Zuckerberg aims to capitalize on advertisements
In explaining the concept of “services” better, Zuckerberg referred to advertisements. The CEO explained that Meta is more inclined to keep the prices of its devices low in order to encourage the growth of the VR ecosystem and capitalize on revenue from advertisers. Apple’s business plan, on the other hand, points to earn from the sale of the devices.
“If you are a brand you are interested in reaching as many people as possible, just like on social networks. So I think the key is to bring this vision to new generations of hardware devices as well, ”explained Zuckerberg.
Currently Meta Quest Pro was presented at the price of 1799,99€. On the other hand, the new Apple VR arriving in 2023 should start from 2000€.
