With the approach of day one of the game, a new controversy has hit Modern Warfare 2 and Activision: according to a report, only 70 MB of data would be present on the disc of the PS5 version
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is the sequel to the reboot that was loved so much in 2019 and that will soon arrive on PC and consoles of the current and last generation. The launch is in fact scheduled for tomorrow, October 28 (coinciding with day one of Bayonetta 3, an interesting day in short), even if those who pre-ordered the game had exclusive access to the campaign starting from October 21, a week earlier. In the past few hours, however, following a report by Does It Play, a social media account that tests retail version games to see if they can also be played offline on consoles, sparked a controversy that seems interesting to report.
According to the account, the physical version of Modern Warfare II on PlayStation 5 would contain a negligible amount of data, quantified as 70 MB. A practically ridiculous weight, considering that the full download of the game at launch tomorrow (therefore excluding Warzone 2 which will arrive in the course of next month) is about 100 GB. So, conceptually, all those who buy the physical version of the game will have an empty disc in their hands and will have to download the data completely to play it.

Modern Warfare 2 and the almost useless disc version: it’s not just a hassle to download the game …
The main problem is not only the imposition of downloading 100 GB per day one (excluding the secure launch patch), but two different ethical issues. The first is that of game conservation, which once released by Activision will be practically unplayable even in its single player version. The second, more trivially, is that ofenvironmental impact: Creating and printing a huge amount of virtually blank discs is a practice that could have been safely avoided. Already the standard editions have become simple fetishes that donate nothing more than the digital versions, now that they contain only 70 MB the sense of buying them is completely lost.
It has not yet been officially confirmed by Activision, but if that were the case and if the Modern Warfare 2 disc really contained so little data, the company would find yet another, harmful, controversy in its hands.
