From today it becomes active SOS Emergency service via iPhone satellite in the United States and Canada, with Apple which promises to soon extend the function to other countries as well. The service allows you to use satellite internet to contact the emergency services, even where there is no terrestrial connection.

In announcing the new iPhone 14, Apple presented the Emergency SOS function via satellite, which allows you to use satellite internet in case of lack of landline. The service uses Globastar satellites, which allow you to transmit internet information and get help.
The service is expected to become a monthly subscription in the future, but Apple has explained that those who buy an iPhone 14 will be able use it for free for the next two years. At the moment, the possible price is not known.
Apple explained in an announcement that users will be able to use the service to contact emergency services when there is no other coverage. In addition, they will be able to send their location via the app Find My to friends and family for more peace of mind.
Apple has announced that the service arrives today November 15 in North America. But”it will arrive in France, Germany, Ireland and the UK in December”.
The service will only work for the iPhone 14, Plus, Pro and Pro Max lineup of smartphones. To ensure that the most important information arrives, users will find a questionnaire by opening the app to fill out and pass on to emergency services only essential information.
