Kristen Stewart makes her directorial debut with The Chronology of Water, the first film with the actress in her new guise
After so many experiences in front of the camera, Kristen Stewart is ready to change perspective and position herself behind the camera. The Chronology of Water will be the directorial debut of the actress who, from her role as Bella Swan in the Twilight saga, has become one of the great stars of the Hollywood world. This is not a first time ever, because Kristen Stewart has previously directed a short film entitled Come Swin, produced by Scott Free and presented at Cannes. It will be the first time, however, in a feature film, a much more convincing feat that really arouses a lot of curiosity.
The Chronology of Water: Kristen Stewart’s first film
This project has been talked about for a long time and is now finally taking shape. According to Deadline, there would also be the protagonist of the film: it is about Imogen Poots, London actress who made a splash with her participation in The Father – Nothing is as it seems, alongside big screen giants such as Anthony Hopkins and Olivia Colman. The story is instead taken from the memoir of Lidia Yuknavitch, awarded the 2012 Oregon Book Award. The growth path of the writer is narrated, who manages to overcome a past of violence and difficulties thanks to swimming.
In fact, Lidia said that she grew up with an abusive father who constantly attacked both her and her sister and with an alcoholic mother. The writer managed to get out of this very complicated family situation thanks to the support of a coach who made her dream of becoming a swimmer professional. However, after moving to Florida to train, Lidia also had to deal with the demon of alcohol and in the end this addiction, together with the boycott of the 1980 Olympics in Moscow, put an end to Lidia’s dream of establishing herself in swimming.
From this experience, therefore, The Chronology of Water was born, a work that is now Kristen Stewart is ready to stage in his first film. Speaking of her project, the actress said that she has been developing this project for five years and that she was very impressed by Lidia’s incredible story.
