We encountered an abnormally slow transfer of files from one system to another in Windows 11 22H2, let’s analyze the causes and solutions
Microsoft is not new to confirming the presence of anomalous bugs after the release of the feature updates. This is also the case we face today. Indeed, in PCs updated to Windows 11 22H2there is a problem also confirmed by Ned Pyle, engineer of the Redmond multinational who implements the SMB (Server Message Block) protocol.
The problem mainly concerns copying files from one machine to another. In fact, copying large files turns out to be particularly slow and hardly completed for no apparent reason. The Microsoft engineer explained that the problem only affects systems updated to Windows 11 22H2. In addition, this bug only occurs when the recipient machine of the file is updated to the same feature update. The same also explained that the aforementioned bug is not strictly related to SMB, so much so that it occurs sporadically even using other mechanisms of data copying.
Possible solutions on Windows 11 22H2
Per avoid slowdowns abnormalities when copying data, the engineer suggested using Robocopy, especially the following command:
robocopy \\source-pc\share-name c:\target-folder filename.ext /J
The /J option in fact makes an I/O copy without the aid of the buffer making the procedure suitable in case of shift from file from big size. Finally, a few days ago, it was stated that they fixed the problem. Pyle also explained that the fix patch has been distributed to current users the preview 25252 of Windows 11 and will soon be available with a cumulative update.
The release date is not yet public, so it is not so obvious that it will be able to be released with the next one patch day (coming 13th of this month). What do you think of this bug? Let us know with a comment below and keep reading TechGameWorld.com to stay updated on the latest news and more.
