Acer unveils the eKinekt Bike Desk to promote a more active and sustainable lifestyle
Acer has announced the eKinekt BD 3 bike desk, a desk combined with a stationary bicycle designed to promote a healthier and more sustainable lifestyle. EKinekt BD 3 allows users to exercise as they work, using the kinetic energy of pedaling to power the machine and charge devices. The LCD display and the smartphone application provide information that helps cyclists follow their progress during exercises or work sessions. Users can easily adjust the resistance of the bicycle, the seat and the height of the desk according to the desired position, to provide more flexibility and comfort while working or exercising. The device features two USB Type-A ports and one USB Type-C port, a purse hook, and a cup holder for added convenience whether you’re at the office or at home.

Convert kinetic energy into reusable electricity
As the cyclist pedals, eKinekt converts kinetic energy into electric charge. An hour of constant pedaling on the bike desk, at 60 rpm, can generate up to 75 watts of energy. This energy is then used to charge laptops and other devices, so users can work and stay fit at the same time. Demonstrating a long-term commitment to balancing creating innovative solutions and protecting the planet, the eKinekt BD 3’s worktop and frame that protects bike components are made from post-consumer recycled plastic (PCR).
In Work mode, the desk surface moves closer to the chair to allow cyclists to maintain an upright position while typing and pedaling. In Sport mode, the desk top moves forward, providing more leaning space, such as on a bicycle or in a traditional workout, increasing legroom and pedaling power. The
Thoughtful design allows users to take advantage of downtime between work periods to stay active and exercise in a confined area. To return to work mode simply slide the desktop surface back to its original position.
Progress is tracked via the dedicated app
The eKinekt applicationeasy to use, provides real-time information to control the duration of the ride, distance and speed, while indicating the estimated number of calories burned and the watts generated during the session. For more accurate tracking, riders can enter personal information like height, weight, gender, and age into the app’s profile. The application also records workout history to allow users to track their progress and compare results over time.
