The competition involved 5 high schools in the Veneto region and saw over 50 students compete with the fascinating programming of the Commodore 64, the best-selling computer in the world.

To create the required software products, implementing the algorithm of the famous board game “Mastermind”, the guys could only count on C64 manualare 39 Kbytes in RAM memory and a very particular language, the BASIC V2. Language is made up of 71 total commands based on those cardinal principles of programming which are also the basis of modern languages.

With a space of limited memory and without the powerful and elegant instructions of Python and Java, young developers eagerly took up the challenge. They had fun, they learned a lot but above all they fielded their own I committhe creativity and the know how to work in a team. The tournament has been able to stimulate their propensity to problem solvingil lateral thinking and theingenuity to maximize the available resources.
