After more than two decades of absence, Ford will return to Formula 1 thanks to the close partnership with Red Bull Powertrains. In fact, the duo is currently engaged in the development of a powerful engine that will be mounted on the cars starting from the 2026 season.

In addition, over the course of 2023 Ford and Red Bull Powertrains will comply with the new technical regulationfor the development of a power unit consisting of a 350 kW electric motor and a new combustion engine.

Ford will take care of the development of the internal combustion engine, batteries and electric motor, as well as the control and analysis software of the power unit.

In all, Ford has decided to invest 50 billion dollars to become a leader in the electric revolution. Currently, in fact, it is second in the entire USA for electric vehicles, a goal achieved thanks to the success of the F-150 Lightning and the Mustang Mach-E.
Also in 2026 Ford will be the only one to compete in all motorsport races, inclusive WEC e IMSA.
