To solve the problem, Apple imagines a band with “electrochromic characteristics“. This means that “an applied voltage” can cause that “a variety of colors and color combinations are displayed by a single band”.

Apple explains that in this way “Color selections can be made and adjusted without removing and replacing the strap“.
