Let’s start with the packaging. The 7 in 1 USB-C multifunctional adapter box is very small and compact. With an all-white background, the box features the Ugreen company name in green on the front, with the USB-C Hub prominently displayed in its entirety. On the back, however, we find the image of the various slots available on the hub (USB type A and type C, Ethernet, HDMI and memory card slots). Now I will focus on product design. As for the aesthetic part, I can say that I was quite satisfied with the work done by the Ugreen company on this USB-C multifunction adapter. TOP design. Really nice to look at, with a great choice of colors (although I noticed that it tends to scratch easily). The materials seem really resistant to the touch and there is no feeling of fragility that one might feel in other similar products. The USB-C hub is made entirely of aluminum alloy, with the 100W USB-C power adapter port cable made of nylon. Although the dimensions are not very small, the device is still very light. In fact, when used with a smartphone while on the move, it’s not so much the weight as its size that gives a hindrance! If the hub had been smaller certainly certain types of use would have been less “tiring”.
Tests | Ugreen review USB-C multifunctional adapter
I have carried out several tests of this Ugreen 7 in 1 Multifunction Adapter. The tests were carried out both on the PC and on laptops and on various smartphone models (Samsung and Huawei). I can say that the USB-C hub performed quite admirably throughout the tests, and therefore I feel quite satisfied. Very fast in connecting with the various peripherals and with fixed and mobile devices. In fact, the Ugreen USB-C multifunction adapter is detected very easily (which does not always happen with devices from other brands). Excellent file transfer performance (documents, images, video, audio), always fast and reliable. Whether connected with a smartphone or PC, or an SD card or USB storage device is inserted into the hub, the result is always excellent. The Ethernet slot is very good, above all because many laptops no longer have a dedicated network input. Negative notes, the HDMI slot and the USB-C one. As for the first, I tried the hub, to watch a movie, connecting my PC to a HDTV, and I noticed some sporadic lag in the images. I then redid the same test via smartphone, noticing the same problems. Unfortunately I could not test it with other smartphones because they are not compatible with the product. As for the USB-C slot, charging through it is much slower than through the port on the device itself so I don’t recommend it.
Final considerations
Albeit with some misgivings, themultifunctional USB-C hub still made a good impression on me! Even if it has some flaws, especially with regard to the HDMI port, the overall operation is very positive. The speeds (both connection and file transfer) are very faithful to those described in the product manual. Of course, the performance varies a lot depending on the device used. Indeed, a latest generation device will have much better performance than an older one. You will notice that the multifunction adapter, during use, will tend to heat up a lot, making you feel its warmth to the touch. But it will cool down very quickly as soon as it is no longer stressed. Finally, as a last consideration, let’s talk about the price. This multifunctional 7 in 1 USB-C 4K30Hz adapter has a price that is around 45.00 euros. Therefore, for the features offered, the amount of slots made available and the services provided, I can say that the quality / price ratio is really good.
