Of Amnesia there is only that of the concept of pure open world: the map of The Bunker will be more linear than expected, as well as divided into hubs
As well as the series Amnesia has become a staple of the horror genre, the same cannot be said of the level design according to the latest comments from the developers of The Bunker about the map. From 2010 to today, the saga has overwhelmed the gaming industry like a river (of blood) in flood, but the red waters of the next episode are completely unexplored. The upcoming title is just over a month away, and we already know that the compromise towards the open world intends to upset the formula established by the predecessors in several ways. And an interview with the foreign sector press seems to suggest which ones it is.
The map of the future of Amnesia: The Bunker
The creative director of Amnesia: The Bunker, Fredrik Olsson, has gutted some details of the game now around the corner, starting from the map. The eponymous underground hideout where much of the adventure takes place will be divided into several hub. As anyone who has played titles like Crash Bandicoot or the Spyro saga knows, a hub indicates a safe area from which to access the various challenges. Camping also means being able to save the game, plan your next moves and make sure that the power generator is always operational. The predator that hunts us does so in the dark, which is the worst enemy of the fans of the series.

According to Olsson, “the rest of the bunker is immediately accessible, with very few restrictions on where to go and what to do.” The progress “it depends a lot on the player”, despite the linearity background behind the main campaign. “It’s up to the audience to identify which tasks need to be done, figure out which ones to prioritize, and judge how to complete them. This exploration must be balanced taking into account the dynamic danger that pursues the player and which, depending on the case, can emerge at any time.” Not all of the game will be set in the bunker, but while not boasting the same variety as Rebirth the adventure will offer unique settings.
The game comes out on 16 maggio on Xbox One, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PS4 and PC. But will you make it yours?
