The series is a new release of VVVVID and is dated 2010. In Rainbow, we are catapulted to 1955, when seven teenagers are arrested and, pending a sentence, they are forced to spend their time locked up all together in a cell in the Shounan Special Reform School reformatory. Here they meet Rokurouta Sakuragia former boxer, one of the few with whom they will establish a bond that will help them defend themselves against the oppression, suffering and humiliation suffered due to their defenseless condition.
