Through a press release, TiMi Studio Group and The Pokémon Company have announced the arrival of Goodra in Pokémon Unite: let’s find out all the details together
Those of you who are still playing Pokémon Unite (our dedicated review here!) will surely be reading the next few lines because we are talking about new content. Specifically, Goodra also arrives in the Pokémon Unite roster, a Dragon-type Defender who hinders opponents with its Stickiness. The Pokémon, specifically, will start each game as Goomy, and then evolve into Sliggoo and, finally, into Goodra.
Pokémon Unite expands and welcomes Goodra and its Viscosity!
Goodra is a short-range Defender Dragon-type from the Kalos region, especially good at spreading slime around to slow down opponents thanks to the Stickiness ability and its empowered attacks and moves. Goodra’s Stickiness ability restores HP while slowing opponents. When Goodra suffers an attack, there is a certain chance that he will spread sticky slime around him.
The slime deals damage to opponents and temporarily reduces their movement speed due to the slowing effect of Viscosity. This effect can stack up to four times for each opposing Pokémon. When Goodra enters tall grass, she recovers HP continuously until it attacks or until it comes out of tall grass. There should be some time between activations of the HP recovery effect. Finally, every third Goodra’s basic attack becomes an empowered attack that inflicts the slowing effect of Viscosity on affected opponents. Powered attacks hurl slime at distant opponents and deal additional damage to nearby ones.
Moves to L.1 and L.3: Bull and Action | Pokémon Unite: Goodra arrives, new Defender!
With the move Bubble, Goomy takes refuge precisely in a bubble, which acts as a shield for a while. When the shield’s effect wears off, or if the move is used again, the bubble bursts, dealing damage to nearby opposing Pokémon and slowing their movement speed.
With the classic move Action, instead, Goomy charges at an opponent, dealing damage and knocking them into the air. If Tackle is successful, Goomy jumps, landing slightly further back.
Moves to L.5: Mud and Dragopulsar | Pokémon Unite: Goodra arrives, new Defender!
Con slush, Sliggoo creates a spray of mud around itself, dealing damage to opponents in the area of effect and activating an effect on them that temporarily reduces the damage they deal. If Sliggoo deals damage with this move, its Defense and Special Defense increase for a while. This effect can stack up to four times. Slime can be upgraded to further increase Sliggoo’s Defense and Special Defense when the move deals damage to opponents.
When instead use Dragopulsar, Sliggoo emits a shockwave in the indicated direction, dealing damage to enemies hit. If the center of the shockwave hits opposing Pokémon, it does even more damage to them and restores Sliggoo’s HP. HP is also restored when Dragon Pulse deals damage to opponents slowed by the effect of Viscosity. When enhanced, Dragon Pulse restores even more HP to Sliggoo if opponents hit by the shockwave’s center are slowed by the effect of Viscosity.
Moves to L.8 Vigorshot and Acidobomba, the United Move: Invigorating Rain | Pokémon Unite: Goodra arrives, new Defender!
Con Vigorcolpo violently wags its long horns in the indicated direction, dealing damage to opponents in the area of effect and reducing its movement speed. If the move hits distant opponents, Goodra pulls them towards her. When the upgraded version of Might Strike hits, it inflicts the slowing effect of Viscosity.
Finally, using Acid bomb Goodra attacks an opponent with a highly corrosive acid, dealing damage to all opponents in an area of effect around the target and slowing their movement speed. If Acid Bomb is used again, Goodra he charges in the indicated direction, dealing damage to opponents it hits. If the charge hits an opposing Pokémon previously marked by corrosive acid, it knocks it up and does damage
even to opponents in its vicinity. When Acid Bomb is kicked up, it inflicts the slowing effect of Viscosity on opposing Pokémon that have taken damage from the highly corrosive acid or charge.
With his Unite move, Invigorating RainGoodra makes rain fall around him that causes him to gradually recover HP. While Invigorating Rain is active, all of the Pokémon’s Basic Attacks become Powered Attacks.
Metagame Analysis | Pokémon Unite: Goodra arrives, new Defender!
No one is able to put the (sticky) spokes in the works of the opponents better than Goodra, one of Pokémon UNITE’s most unique Defenders. Goodra can keep opposing Pokémon at close range by slowing them down and constantly dealing damage thanks to the slime she spreads with her Ability, Viscosity, or throws with her powered attacks. Additionally, Power Blast and Acid Bomb are great moves for slowing down key targets at close range and protecting Attackers.
