The time has finally come. After a very long wait (and a troubled development), the new zombie-based action/RPG, developed by Dambuster Studios and published by Deep Silver, is finally available. 12 years after the release of the original chapter, we can now finally get our hands on this direct sequel and start slicing zombies alone or in company. Already because, just like its predecessor, co-op will also be present in Dead Island 2, and in this guide we will explain how to play together with other users.
First duty and then pleasure
Those who know the series or have had the opportunity to play the original title can easily understand how the co-op mode plays a fundamental role in Dead Island 2 as well. This is so central and important in the gameplay of the title that it is even necessary to obtain the platinum trophy. However, activating it may not be as immediate as you would expect. In fact, the player will be required to complete some main missions related to the main stories beforehand, before finally being able to team up with other users on the streets of Hell-A.
A matter of quests – Dead Island 2: here’s how to play co-op
As mentioned above, in order to play in co-op mode in Dead Island 2 it will be necessary to complete the first three main quests of the campaign, which will also act as an incipit and tutorial for the title. Specifically we are talking about: “The Flight of the Damned”, “The Desperate Search For Emma” and “Rissa Di Bel-Air”. Once this is done, the mission “Call La Cavalleria” will be activated, the first one that will allow you to activate the cooperative. How long it will take to complete this first part of the game will obviously depend on you, but as an indication you can take into account that everything should take about an hour of play, so if you are thinking of organizing yourself with other friends it is good to put in advance consider this procedure.
Three is the perfect number – Dead Island 2: here’s how to play co-op
Once the fourth main mission has been activated, already mentioned in the previous paragraph, you can finally go outside the safe area. Here you will have the possibility to invite other players to join your game to start exploring and exterminating monsters in the streets of Hell-A. As expected, the co-op in Dead Island 2 allows you to play only connected online and there is no split-screen mode. Another factor to keep in mind is the fact that multiplayer allows you to form teams of only three members, and not the more common four of the original chapter.

As we have seen, before playing co-op in Dead Island 2 it will require players to complete at least one first story fragment. However, it must be said that, given how much the gameplay takes this mode into account, the cooperative, in the latest effort by Dambuster Studios, promises to be a really fun experience and able to give hours and hours of fun to you and your friends , allowing you to collaborate to progress together in the different missions proposed by the game.
