There will be six I Wonder Pictures titles premiered at the 76th edition of the Cannes Film Festival (scheduled from 16 to 27 May 2023), a proposal that transversely crosses all the sections of the festival, including the official selection, Quinzaine des Cinéastes, special events and Semaine de la Critique. It will be presented in competition in the Official Selection and will therefore compete for the Palme d’Or Le Retour by Catherine Corsini, an intense and engaging family story about working through and accepting the past. Khédidja (Aïssatou Diallo Sagna), 15 years after leaving Corsica in tragic circumstances, returns to the island with her two teenage daughters. As she struggles with memories of her, the girls indulge in a seemingly carefree summer that leads them to new discoveries about their past and their family’s true history.

Also in the Official Selection but out of competition, the biopic L’Abbé Pierre – Une Vie de Combats directed by Frédéric Tellier traces the life of Henri Grouès, better known by his pseudonym Abbé Pierre, partisan, politician, French Catholic priest. Of bourgeois origins, revolutionary and iconoclast, he committed himself throughout his life to the fight against poverty, inequality and injustice. In the Special Screenings section, it will be possible to watch the unprecedented debut in animated cinema by Paolo Berger (former by the celebrated and experimental Blancanieves) with Robot Dreams, a story about the importance of friendship and its fragility. Dog lives in Manhattan and, tired of always being alone, builds a robot. To the rhythm of eighties New York music, their friendship blossoms and deepens until one summer evening Dog is forced to abandon Robot on the beach. Will the two friends be able to find each other again?
