There will be many films and TV series that will soon be removed from the Disney Plus platform due to the cuts. Here is the complete list
Bad news on the horizon for lovers of the series and films in the catalog of Disney Plus, who will have to deal with a mass cancellation of many contents on the streaming platform. Unfortunately, it should be emphasized right away: the removals will not be few and will also affect content that many of you will probably have seen with pleasure but which, according to Disney, have not achieved the desired success. The elimination of these shows will start in a few days and will affect over 50 series and specials. Below you will find a first list of the films and TV series involved.
The canceled series | Disney Plus: the list of TV series and movies removed
Admittedly, some titles appearing on the imminent cancellation list are quite unexpected. Among these we find indeed Dollface, the TV series starring Kat Dennings and Brenda Song, now in its second season; but also Pistol, the show that tells the story of the Sex Pistols, the English punk band of the 70s. The title is also checked in the list Willow, fantasy TV series much talked about in the last period for its alleged cancellation. It’s still Y: The Last Man (known in Italy as Y: The Last Man). eliza clarkshowrunner of the sci-fi series did not take the news well and lashed out on the choice, through a Twitter post:
Well, you’ve been working on something for years, you put your heart and soul into it, like hundreds of other artists do. You make it through a global pandemic, away from home. So you get canceled before you even get a chance to finish airing.
It’s stata Christine McCarthy, financial director of Disney to give the bad news, clarifying the reasons that led Disney to implement this difficult choice, arguing that “in this way, Disney is trying to align itself with strategic changes, for an approach aimed at content care. By doing so we expect to reduce expenses“. Also Bob IgerCEO of the company intervened on the issue and on the future of the platform, declaring that in the near future, the intention would be to increase the price of your ad-free plan subscriptions, this is to “better reflect the value of our content offerings”. How will subscribers take it?
