In the past few hours, via a message via Twitter, Naughty Dog has updated on the state of play of the multiplayer game set in the world of The Last of Us: it’s late, but it will arrive and perhaps there is also a surprise
At the time of the release of The Last of Us Part II (here our review!), There were already rumors of a multiplayer component similar to that seen in the original The Last of Us (and here, instead, the review of Part I). This multiplayer mode, however, three years after the release of the title, has not yet seen the light. And just following a Bloomberg report, which underlined the various problems that the production would be encountering in the course of development, an official statement has arrived from Naughty Dog which underlines the need for more time to finally bring it to light. The Last of Us multiplayer is in development, but it’s still a bit away
The announcement came via Twitter, and you can find it above. In June last year, Naughty Dog had also specified that, given the amount of work that was required, this new multiplayer mode had now become a standalone project. The most interesting thing about this Tweet can actually be read in the final lines, where the developers talk about a single-player focused project they’d be working on, but that hasn’t been officially announced yet. Whether it’s The Last of Us Part III or a new IP we don’t know yet and we’ll have to wait for new information. Meanwhile, below, you will find the announcement translated into Italian.
We know that many of you are curious to know more about our The Last of Us multiplayer project. We’re incredibly proud of the work our studio has done so far, but as we’ve continued development we’ve realized that the best thing for the game is to give it more time. Our team will continue to work on the project, as well as the other games we are developing, including a brand new single-player experience; we look forward to sharing more details soon. We are grateful to our amazing community for their continued support – thanks for the passion you have for our games, it always pushes us forward.
