The Blade BYD DOLPHIN batteries, cobalt-free, use lithium iron phosphate (LFP) as the cathode material which offers a much higher level of safety than traditional lithium ion batteries. LFP has inherently excellent thermal stability. BYD’s Blade Battery works in synergy with BYD’s expertise in electric powertrain technology. The BYD DOLPHIN, like the BYD ATTO 3, is built on BYD’s e-Platform 3.0 intelligent platform to ensure maximum system efficiency and integrated vehicle intelligence. BYD’s 8-in-1 electric powertrain integrates vehicle control unit, battery management system, power distribution unit, traction motor, motor controller, transmission, DC-DC converter and on-board charger. This deep integration ensures 89% system efficiency. This integrated technology has been developed to offer optimal performance and a better driving experience.

The BYD DOLPHIN is available in four different trim levels: Active, Boost, Comfort and Design
• BYD DOLPHIN Active: 44.9 kWh battery combined with a 70 kW/95 hp motor. This version can be charged with alternating current up to 7 kW and with direct current up to 60 kW. Price: 30,790 euros.
• BYD DOLPHIN Boost: 44.9 kWh battery and 130 kW/176 hp motor. Adds 17-inch wheels and multi-link rear suspension. Price: 31,790 euros.
• BYD DOLPHIN Comfort: 60.4 kWh battery and 150 kW/204 hp motor. Declared range of 427 km and consumption of 15.9 kWh/100 km. DC charging takes place at 88 kW (from 30 to 80% in 29 minutes), while AC charging reaches a maximum of 11 kW. Price: 35,790 euros.
• BYD DOLPHIN Design: Same technical specifications as Comfort, but adds panoramic roof, VtoL cable, rear privacy glass and wireless charging for smartphones. Price: 37,790 euros.

Acceleration and performance
Thanks to the 60.4 kWh Blade battery and permanent magnet synchronous motor, the BYD DOLPHIN can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 7 seconds. The 310 Nm of torque and the powerful 150kW/204 hp engine guarantee constant thrust that allows the BYD DOLPHIN to reach a top speed of 160 km/h. The four driving modes include Sport, Normal, Economy and Snow modes to suit different driving conditions and preferences. Flexible charging and range of 427km (WLTP).
The BYD DOLPHIN with 60.4 kWh battery has a reassuring WLTP combined electric range of 427 km. The charging power is 11 kW AC three-phase. The performance is also high when it comes to charging. The 100 kW DC battery charger is capable of recharging the battery from 30% to 80% in just 29 minutes. The BYD DOLPHIN is also equipped with VtoL (Vehicle to Load), so the car battery can easily charge external devices. The BYD DOLPHIN with the 44.9 kWh LFP Blade battery has an estimated range (WLTP) of 340 km for Active and 310 km for Boost. Further technical details of these versions will be announced close to the market launch, scheduled for the first quarter of 2024.
Standard high efficiency heat pump
The integrated high efficiency heat pump is standard. Industry’s first direct cooling and heating system for power batteries increasesthermal efficiency up to 15% in winter. This innovative system uses waste heat from the surroundings, the powertrain, the cabin and even the batteries, and can operate in a wide range of temperatures. Intelligent thermal management for extreme weather conditions enables excellent driving range in low temperatures. As a sub function of the intelligent brake system, the CRBS coordinated regenerative braking system it can efficiently recover the braking energy of the whole vehicle.

DOLPHIN concept: agile, versatile and welcoming with a modern aura

Spacious and versatile
Building on the BYD DOLPHIN’s new energetic attributes, the short overhangs and long wheelbase give the car a more spacious appearance. 4,290 mm long and 1,770 mm wide (including rear view mirrors), the BYD DOLPHIN has a wheelbase of 2,700 mm optimized to guarantee space and comfort on board. The vehicle height is 1,570 mm.
Ergonomic seats for driver and passenger comfort
Five seats are available, with ergonomically designed sports seats made of vegan leather. The front ones are heated and electrically adjustable in six ways (driver) and four ways (front passenger). Thanks to the inherent characteristics of the e-Platform 3.0 platform, the rear seats offer ample legroom for passengers. The shoulder and back supports of the front seats have been specifically optimised, while the side rails are more upright, adapting perfectly to the curves of the body for a more comfortable and enveloping drive.

I rear seats are divisible in the proportions 60:40 and allow the luggage compartment to be expanded from 345 to 1,310 liters when the backrests are folded down.
