Packaging and Design | XGIMI Halo+ Review
The device will arrive in a very refined aesthetic packaging, able to satisfy the eyes of various users thanks to a really simple and effective layout. The same simplicity is transmitted inside the package where, once opened, we will find the device nestled between two polyethylene foam protectors to protect it from shocks due to transport.
Under the device they will find, in two separate boxes, the power supply to operate the projector, the remote control to manage it remotely and the user manual. To the eye the Halo+ is elegant and robusta sensation that is transmitted very well to our hands once removed from the package.
The turret design makes it ideal to be placed even on very narrow surfaces, without tipping it to one side or the other as could happen for larger projectors. The device features a plot to challenge which is needed to get out the audio of the two built-in speakers. On the front we find the lens e l’auto keystoneable to adjust the image automatically.
On the back we find all the ports to connect the projector to the various playback devices, to headphones so as not to disturb the other sleeping roommates, the power socket and the power button. The part below the doors is affected only by a union that allows the heat to escape so that the device does not get too hot during use.
At the top are the LED indicating operationi controls to adjust the volume and the one to put play or pause depending on your needs. In the lower part of the device we find a convenient foot to slightly raise the Halo+ so that the light reaches higher and a hole that allows the attaching to a tripod.
Simple and immediate use | XGIMI Halo+ Review
One of the main problems, at least in older projectors and in those of a slightly lower range, is that of focus. Optimizing the image is always a problem and often, after an involuntary collision, we will have to start the operation all over again. Thanks to auto focus with which the Halo+ is equipped we will be able to forget about these inconveniences.
Once turned on, in fact, the automatic procedure will start and regulate it not just the image qualityso that it does not appear blurry on the surface chosen for viewing, but also the shape. Often it happens to have the projector in a slightly lower or lateral position with respect to the projection panel. This causes a trapezoidal image both vertically and horizontally, which tends to distort the proportions. Once this process is completed, which takes a few seconds, we will be able to fully enjoy our contents in all their beauty.
I 900 Ansi Lumens allow for an almost trouble-free viewing even with a small amount of light in the room. This means that you can enjoy your favorite movies and TV series even in the presence of a slight amount of light, at least up to 100 inch screen size. Once this threshold is exceeded, in fact, you will have to have a room dark enough to allow you to see all the details.
Remote control and app | XGIMI Halo+ Review
Thanks to the remote control we will be able to better manage our projector even without getting close to it. All this is possible thanks to Android TVthe built-in operating system that will allow for smarter use. We will be able to also use the voice assistant to play the content we want directly from our projector, but not only.
Indeed, having Android TV will allow us to download on the Halo+ as well various applications such as YouTube or various streaming services (Netflix, Amazon Prime, Disney+ and so on). We will be able to therefore view any content we wish, provided we have a third party subscription with the app we want to use. However, during our test we were not able to enjoy Netflix content.
Operation | XGIMI Halo+ Review
Leaving aside this small inconvenience, probably due to some conditions imposed by Netflix on the reproduction of content on some platforms, our experience was near excellent. The Image quality was really good and not only for the FHD resolution with which the projector is equipped. This product boasts very important technologies inside that allow you to have smooth and detailed images such as the 60Hz refresh rate, the HDR10 and the built-in motion compensation technology.
Not only defined images, but also i well-structured and full-bodied sounds. All this is possible thanks to the two built-in speakers Harman Kardon and 5 Wable to issue a clean, distortion-free Hi-Fi sound with a broad bass response. In this way we will be able to fully experience every film and every episode of our TV series, but not only. We will be able to enjoy the company of excellent music which, if not at high volumes, will always be very detailed and with a really important acoustic ragne.
Conclusions
We have reached the end of this review regarding the XGIMI Halo+ projector and the time has come to sum up a bit. We are in front of a really good portable projector, free from any defect and able to give us a truly important experience. Whether it’s audio or video, this product knows its stuff, giving us clear images and well-defined sounds.
Very important is the autofocus and self-stabilization system which allows the device to adapt to any situation, resetting the image in seconds even after moving the projector. This way we will always have a perfect image without any imperfections due to misalignment or poor focus. Additionally, the Halo+ is capable of recognize the obstacles on the walladapting the screen automatically.
Android TV is always a guarantee, capable of condensing all streaming services and making us enjoy the great shows without having to lift a finger. In addition to the supplied remote control, in fact, we will be able to also manage the projector via voice commands with google assistant. This will allow us to have greater flexibility, allowing us to remain comfortable on our sofa where we can manage everything easily.
Despite so much convenience, however, we were unable to view our content on Netflix, precluding a large part of the available content and forcing us to connect a laptop via HDMI cable. That’s all for this review about XGIMI’s Halo+. We remind you that the product is available at a recommended price of 849 €.
