Yes, there is a lot of confusion. Elon Musk’s recent ploy of twisting the Twitter name and logo into X is having considerable aftermath. Currently, no one knows what to call the app and, even if it were decided to opt for X, the doubt of the pronunciation would remain.
Apple could enter the matter with a straight leg, whose policy of its App Store could force Elon Musk to change course again.
Why Apple could force Twitter-X to change its name
Apple’s App Store rules are clear: all apps must have a name consisting of at least two characters. As you can guess, X has only one. At the time of writing this article Twitter is present on the App Store with the new single letter name. However, as PhoneArena suggests, Apple may take action on the matter soon.
The problem does not arise on the Android Google Play Storewhich has no minimum limit on app names.
Twitter officially changed its logo last week, in a much-discussed maneuver advanced by Elon Musk. The iconic blue bird logo has also disappeared from the facade of the San Francisco office, and even in that case the removal operations had met with initial resistance from the police, who had not been warned in advance of the work .
In Elon Musk’s plans, the rebranding aims to transform the social network into a WeChat-style super app, which in China also offers mobile payment and instant messaging services.
