The English brand of Saic Motors MG increases the rate of sportiness with the original roadster, inspired by the past, and the most powerful variant of the MG4 with 435 HP of total power
At IAA Mobility is the European debut for the MG Cyberster. At the 2023 Monaco Motor Show, the interest is for the first electric roadster of the Saic Motors brand which will arrive on the market in the summer of 2024, offered in two versions.
It is a dry two-seater, with a canvas roof, 4,530 mm long, 1,910 mm wide and 1,320 mm high, with a wheelbase of 2,690 mm.
Classic style for the most part and with references to the MG B: elongated front, low nose, steeply inclined windshield, sinuous surfaces, clean sides, canvas roof. Elements that contrast with the unprecedented vertical opening doors and a truncated tail with a fake extractor, where the lights form an original arrow.
The passenger compartment is original: the driver’s seat clearly separated from the passenger one, the dashboard formed by three viewers in sequence behind the joystick steering wheel and a large vertical display to the side. Basically, a small cockpit.
MG4 Xpower Awd: the new electric variant with 435 HP of total power
The rear-wheel drive MG Cyberster has 310 Cvbut there is also a more powerful all-wheel drive version with 536 Cv of power and 727 Nm of torque, obtained thanks to two electric motors, one at the front 201 Cv and one at the rear from 335 Cv.
Numbers that allow the car to shoot from 0 to 100 km/h in 3 seconds. The accumulator is the same and has a capacity of 77 kWhwhich should be sufficient for a declared mileage of over 500 km (autonomy must still be subjected to the Wltp approval cycle). At MG they are convinced that despite the weight of 1.984 kgthe Cyberster will be able to count on excellent dynamic qualities.
Protagonist in Monaco is also the new spearhead of the electric offer: the MG4 Xpower Awda high-performance twin-engined variant.
The five-door can count on a maximum power of 435 Cv e 600 Nm of torque: the front engine is from 204 CV (150 kW)while the rear one reaches a 231 CV (170 kW); the latter can also count on an electronic system, the Xds, which simulates the functioning of a self-locking differential.
The electronics manage the distribution of the torque on the two axles and launch control is also standard: for the 0-100 km/h the house states a time of 3.8 secondswhile the maximum speed is 200 km/h.
Powering the powertrain is a Nickel-Manganese-Cobalt battery 64 kWh for an autonomy (Wltp) of 385 km.
The battery can be recharged from 10 to 80% in 26 minutes thanks to the direct current columns up to a maximum power of 140 kW. The basic MG 4 set-up is completed by leatherette and Alcantara interiors with aluminum-look inserts: the new matt Hunter Green colour, exclusive to this version, is also available on request. Price list from 41.290 euro.
