Rumors have been circulating for a while, but it was only yesterday that YouTube made the official announcement: the streaming platform officially enters the world of gaming. YouTube is in fact testing Playablesa new feature that allows you to launch games directly from the app.
What we know about YouTube Playables: the games section of the app
According to the company, users will be able to choose from a vast catalog of games, mark them as favorites and track your progress in your history. The library still remains shrouded in mystery, given that no titles have been announced.
Lower your expectations though. We are unlikely to see triple-A games in the catalogue like on other cloud gaming platforms. We can indeed expect a Netflix-style operation, which launched a gaming section a few years ago. Unlike the big red N however, YouTube games will not need to be downloaded and installed, and will be available on both mobile and desktop. It will therefore be about a real cloud gaming service.
No other details are known at the moment, also because the Playables service is currently only in the testing phase. However, we will of course keep you updated on further developments.
