Twitter has been changing its name to September 29th it will all be official: in particular, one of the most evident changes concerns the word “tweet“, which will become simple “posts”. Erasing years of marketing that made the term part of the vocabulary.
X deletes Twitter: tweets officially become simple posts
In the new terms of service, the word “retweet” will be replaced by “repost”. In other words, it will no longer be about “retweeting” but “reposting”. This change marks an important step in the history of Twitter, renouncing the use of a term that has now become part of the vocabulary.
Another significant transformation concerns the brand itself. In the new terms, the word “Twitter” will be almost completely removed in favor of “X”. While some URLs still appear to contain “twitter,” the goal appears to be a full migration to using “X.” However, it is interesting to note that X.com still redirects to twitter.com.
Other changes seem less controversial, clike the closure of PeriscopeTwitter’s live streaming app in 2021, with references to it removed in new terms of service.
Privacy and artificial intelligence
But the changes are not just in the terminology. The privacy policy will undergo a significant revision. X plans to expand the amount of data collected on users, including biometrics and employment history.
Another point of discussion is the explicit prohibition against scraping in the new terms. While the current terms allow crawling in accordance with the provisions of the robots.txt file, the new terms clearly state that crawling or scraping the services is expressly prohibited without the written consent of of Google and other search engines can control the contents, otherwise making a post successful will be much more complex than what happened with tweets.
