Nissan subscribes to the “United Nations Women’s Empowerment Principles”. The company underlines its commitment to the empowerment of women in the workplace
Nissan underlined its commitment to promoting gender equality and women’s empowerment in the workplace. All that signing the United Nations Women’s Empowerment Principles. Established by UN Women and the UN Global Compact, WEPs offer guidance to businesses; a guide on how to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment in the workplace, marketplace and community at large.
Implementing the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles will further boost Nissan’s work to support women in the workplace,

Details of the UN Women’s Empowerment Principles endorsed by Nissan
Nissan has long supported initiatives that provide advancement opportunities for women in a traditionally male-dominated industrythe. Between these:
- specific initiatives for the development of female talents,
- a women’s leadership program
- and a framework to support employees in reconciling work with caring for their children,
- nursing care and other activities.
Consequentially, the percentage of female managers at Nissan globally increased from 6.7% in 2008 to 15.5% as of March 2023. Women represent 10.4% of Nissan executives in Japan, where the manufacturing sector average is 5.1% for companies with 1,000 or more employees.
Nissan will continue to intensify its efforts to create a work environment where people feel valued and respected for who they are and their contributions. The company will expand diversity, equity and inclusion initiatives to support every employee and encourage communication.
