Once the Venice Film Festival is over, we look forward to the cinematographic events of next autumn, such as Alice in the City, autonomous and parallel section of the Rome Film Festival dedicated to young people, to the discovery of talent and to debuts, directed by Fabia Bettini and Gianluca Giannelli, who will take place from 18 to 29 October in Rome. The first news were made known, such as a new location aimed at the world of short films, the WomenLands meetings to enhance female excellence and above all the preview of the film To Leslie with the Oscar-nominated actress Andrea Riseborough.

This year the Palazzo delle Esposizioni is also added to the traditional locations of the Auditorium Parco della Musica and the Auditorium Conciliazione. which will host the first edition of SHORT FILM DAYS, a networking and co-production space aimed at young talents from the world of short films and audiovisuals, created with the support of the Rome Chamber of Commerce, CNA Cinema e Audiovisivo, BNL BNP PARIBAS, UNIFRANCE, SIAE and the Sardegna Film Commission Foundationin collaboration with Rai Cinema.

A place that will also be a three-day creative laboratory at the same time (18, 19 and 20 October) of meetings, panels and opportunities for debate between young authors and producers. The events linked to the meetings are aimed at analyzing the current situation of the short film market, the new dynamics of financing independent production and distribution, the future challenges of the audiovisual industry, the promotion strategies, the relationship with the public and the cinema cinematic.

Alice nella città will dedicate part of the programming to works that place female protagonists at the center of the narrative. Among the first films on the bill is the acclaimed debut “To Leslie” by Michael Morris surprisingly included in the race for Oscar 2023 thanks to the extraordinary interpretation of Andrea Riseborough. The film, shot in just 18 days on a very low budget, was supported for nominations at the Academy Awards by a social campaign promoted by celebrities such as Kate Winslet, Demi Moore, Susan Sarandon and tells the story of the fall and rebirth of a single mother and ex-alcoholic who, in the heart of Texas, fights to rebuild her life.
