It is now paperless and can be downloaded by scanning a QR code. The new obu (on board unit) is a limited edition available, while stocks last, for new Telepass customers who join the Telepass Plus offer. Furthermore, starting from 1 October, those who are already Telepass customers will also be able to request it in replacement of the old device.
Launched on the occasion of European Mobility Weekthe initiative intends to promote a culture of responsible use of environmental resources, attention to recycling and the circular economy and is part of the strategic vision of Telepass which has made sustainability an integral part of the business and product strategy for over thirty years .
Green Telepass contributes to smart mobility
It was 1990 when electronic tolling was introduced in our country by Telepass and, since then, it has been considered one of the first examples of green mobility because, thanks to the “stop and go” avoided at toll booths, it allows for greater optimization of traffic flows and represents therefore a virtuous solution for environmental benefits, as documented by the “Study on polluting emissions avoided with electronic tolls. The Telepass factor in smart mobility” conducted by Ca’ Foscari University of Venice.
In fact, from the data of the Ca’ Foscari Study it emerges that, thanks to the use of Telepass electronic toll devices on the motorway, in 2022 alone there were save over 61 thousand tons of CO2or the equivalent of over 642,000 car trips from Rome to Milan, over 9,100 trips around the Earth and 958 Earth-Moon trips.
It is the result of a corporate vision aimed at providing customers with the services they need and reducing the environmental impact on the planet also the acquisition of Wash Out: the startup, specialized in car care services, allows car washing at home with waterless and 100% ecological products, guaranteeing a saving of 160 liters of water compared to a normal car wash without producing waste on the ground.
Objective to combat climate change
Telepass has put the sustainability conceptin line with the broader commitment undertaken by the Mundys Group with the Climate Action Plan to combat climate change through short, medium and long-term objectives of reducing greenhouse gas emissions, enabling the transition towards increasingly sustainable.
With a view to promoting virtuous behavior and encouraging sustainable mobility styles, from 14 to 22 September, Telepass will offer a cashback of €5 for customers who use the sharing and electric charging services via the APP and who purchase travel tickets for train service.
