Netflix has won the rights to Hit Man, a film starring Glen Powell, directed by Richard Linklater. Here are all the details
It was the Netflix streaming platform that won, for 20 million dollars, Hit Mana 2023 film written and directed by Richard Linklater. It is a mix of comedy, noir, thriller and psychological drama. The film has already been presented, as a preview and out of competition, at the 80th Venice International Film Festival on 5 September 2023 and, subsequently Toronto Film Festival, getting excellent feedback. Here’s everything we know for now.

But what will Hit Man be about? The main character is Gary Johnson, a shy philosophy professor from New Orleans, who works part-time as a computer consultant for the city police department. One day, in the midst of a police operation, the man is asked to step into the shoes of a sicario. Gary accepts, unaware that he will soon get a taste for it, becoming confident in his new role.
The film features among the protagonists Glen Powell, who co-wrote the film. At his side Adria Arjona, Austin Amelio, Retta, Sanjay Rao, Molly Bernard e Evan Holtzman. This isn’t the first time that Glen Powell and Richard Linklater have collaborated on a project; in fact it is the third time, after Apollo 10 and a half (2022) ed Everyone wants something (2016).

The director spoke about Hit Man, claiming to have freely inspired by an article from almost twenty years ago, read in Texas Monthly magazine. The news was about a crime story that actually happened. Netflix managed to grab the film, to make it available for American, British, Australian, Indian, Vietnamese, Indonesian and South Korean market. As well as in New Zealand, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, Philippines and Iceland. And in Italy? In our beautiful country the film will arrive in cinemas with BiM. We just have to wait for the arrival in theaters of this film that we everything we advise you not to miss it if you are a fan of the genre.
