5 +1 games to try if you liked Baldur’s Gate 3

That Baldur’s Gate 3 has become a real gaming phenomenon in a very short time is now well known. The last great effort of Running Studios has raised the bar for RPGs once again with turn-based combat offering us a sensational story, complex and rewarding gameplay and that scene with the bear that… you all know by now. However, there is a negative element shared by all players, this game, unfortunately, ends. If other runs of Baldur’s Gate 3 do not satisfy you, we present in this article 5 (+1) alternatives similar to the Larian Studios title.

With a similar style, both graphic and gameplay, this small list of games could fill the void left by great games like Baldur’s Gate 3. Without going into too much detail, let’s start with the obvious!

The other chapters of Baldur’s Gate

It’s no secret that Baldur’s Gate 3 represented for many the first approach to the historic Baldur’s Gate saga and it’s no surprise. The second chapter dates back over 20 years ago and the contemporary approach to video games has changed significantly over the years. However, this does not reduce the charm and importance of the saga in the gaming scenario.

For this reason, the first suggestion we give you is to recover the first two chapters of Baldur’s Gate, released in 1998 and 2000 respectively. Both games were “recently” remastered in a Enhanced edition which in addition to graphically modernizing the title, combines all the updates and expansions released over the years.

While, for obvious timing reasons, the gameplay style is very different in Baldur’s Gate 3, you can’t miss the opportunity to discover the origins of the fascinating game world in which Baldur’s Gate is located.

Alternative a Baldur’s Gate 3:
Divinity

Staying at home Running Studios, the Divinity saga represents a very valid alternative to Baldur’s Gate. The saga was born as a spin-off of Divine Divinity (which we recommend!) but takes its own path with an original and captivating plot. Here too we find all the best mechanics of the genre in perfect Larian Studios style with the addition of an engaging story and well-written characters.

Unlike the first Baldur’s Gate, Divinity, especially Divinity 2, is made with contemporary graphics and mechanics and will be less challenging for new players to enter this magical world.

Neverwinter Nights

Also set in Faerunthe same world as Baldur’s Gate from Dungeons and Dragons, Neverwinter Nights is an old-fashioned RPG, a cornerstone of the genre, that you shouldn’t miss. Both chapters are quite dated (1998 and 2006) and some mechanics may seem a little obsolete, fortunately, even in this case we have an Enhanced Edition available which modernizes the game where possible.

Both chapters offer us an engaging story, one of those stories that only the Dragon Coast can offer us.

Solasta: Crown of the Magister

Far too far from the spotlight, Solasta: Crown of the Magister is a great example of an isometric camera RPG, made by Tactical Adventures. The game is based on the rules of version 5.1 of Dungeons & Dragons and with them all the features we love most about D&D.

In this game we will have to discover the mystery behind a centuries-old cataclysm that affects the world of Solasta and try to stop it. With a group of brave adventurers, our hero will have to face a thousand and more dangers among the dungeons of Solasta, characterized by extraordinary verticality, treasures and enemies.

+1 Disco Elysium

Disco Elysium represents a unique example in this list of alternatives to Baldur’s Gate 3 since combines elements of RPGs with the adventure genre. Made in a very particular graphic style similar to oil painting, Disco Elysium is characterized by a exceptional narration awarded all over the world as well as a very special soundtrack.

The peculiarity of this title is that there are no fights, but, in the guise of a drunken detective with no memory, we will have to solve the mysteries and political intrigues that characterize the world of Elysium and its cities. Dialogues, questions, observations and choices characterize the gameplay as we explore the wonderful game environments.

An unmissable mix for a game that will keep you glued to the screen for hours.
