Foto di Famiglia, arriving in theaters on October 19th, he says the exciting true story of photographer Masashi Asada which, thanks to the power of photography, brought smiles back to many people’s faces. It all begins in the Asada household, a united family where everyone has a secret dream: the father wanted to be a firefighter, the older brother the Formula 1 driver and the mother has always imagined herself as the wife of a Yakuza gangster. Masashi, gifted with a strong passion for photography, has a dazzling intuition: to portray his family by recreating all the lives they would have liked to live.

Thanks to these shots, Masashi becomes an established and esteemed photographer, whose peculiarity is to portray with originality not only his own, but numerous other families in the town, giving them indelible memories. However, the boy finds himself forced to interrupt his work when Japan is hit by the dramatic earthquake of 2011. Intent on doing something useful, he joins a group of volunteers who carry out a unique mission of its kind: “saving” the photos and family albums lost in the collapse of houses, recovering them and returning them to their rightful owners. Thanks to the work of the volunteers, in just a few months more than 60,000 photos were returned to the owners: the memories left by the missing take on an inestimable value for the survivors and the story of this undertaking goes around the world.
