Instagram is testing a new feature that allows users to view only posts published by Meta Verified usersaccording to the head of Instagram, Adam Mosseri. The goal of this feature is to provide a new level of control to users and make it easier to discover verified companies and creators.
Instagram tests a feed with only Meta Verified users
The “ buttonMeta Verified” will appear as an optional toggle in the Instagram app, located under the “ optionsfollow” e “Favorites” and accessible by tapping the Instagram logo at the top. This feature could be a new incentive for users to become Meta Verified, a process that requires a payment 13.99 euros online or $16.99 via the app per month.
Mosseri’s post does not specify how extensive the current test is or who will have access to this feature. Adam Mosseri however encouraged users to express their interest in the feed “Meta Verified”.
Earlier this year, Instagram’s parent company Metaintroduced the Meta Verified program for Instagram and Facebook, I arrive in Italy in the summer. This program offers benefits such as a blue verification badge, better customer support, and protection from identity spoofing attempts. Initially tested in Australia and New Zealand, the program was later expanded to the United States, and in September it was announced that it would also be available for corporate accounts.
This move by Instagram appears to be a response to a similar program by another social media platform, with the former Twitter, now known as X, which introduced a paid verification service that sparked negative reactions and contributed to a poorer user experience. It remains to be assessed what the level of adoption will be.
