Xiaomi announced its new flagship phones, Xiaomi 14 e 14 Prothe first smartphones to be equipped with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 recently announced by Qualcomm. These devices will initially be exclusive to China, with a possible global launch (excluding the US, but including Europe and Italy) later. Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro have top technical features, features based on artificial intelligence and offer a first look at the new operating system HyperOSdeveloping internally by Xiaomi.
Xiaomi 14 and 14 Pro, top features and the new HyperOS
As The Verge reports, the company announced at the Chinese launch event that Xiaomi 14 offers a screen from 6.3 incheswhile the 14 Pro has a slightly larger screen from 6.7 inches. Both devices boast record-breaking peak brightness 3.000 nit e display LTPO with adaptive refresh rates from 1 a 120 Hz. The 14’s design features a flat display with thin bezels, while the 14 Pro has bezels hidden in a curve around the edges.
The 14 Pro stands out for its variable aperture of the main camera lens, offering greater flexibility than the previous model. Both phones come with main cameras from 50 megapixel with brand Leicaa telephoto lens from 3x (equivalent to 75mm) and a ultrawide and 50 megapixel.
The new HyperOS
Both phones perform HyperOS, a system developed by Xiaomi based on Android designed to ensure compatibility between a wide range of Xiaomi devices, such as smartphones, computers, vehicles and home devices. The use of artificial intelligence is a key feature, enabling features such as web page summarization and video conference transcriptions.
Artificial intelligence will play a major role in 2024 phones, making some useful features, such as AI portrait generation, but also enabling advanced security features and much more. Above all because they will have less and less need to resort to the cloud for AI computation.
For AI computation on the device, but also to have the best performance in the sector, Xiaomi has chosen to equip both devices with processors Snapdragon 8 Gen 3. A chip that will be present on many other devices in the coming months, but which debuts on Xiaomi, demonstrating the excellent relationships between the chip manufacturer and the Chinese brand.
HyperOS will also allow different features between different devices, enabling greater integration between Xiaomi’s smart home products and smartphones. And the features of the latest generation Snapdragon chips (such as Snapdragon Seamless) should make this interaction between devices even easier.
Top features
For the rest, we have seen the usual excellent technical features that Xiaomi has now accustomed us to. Not only is all the hardware top notch (from the Bluetooth 5.4 module to the UFS 4.0 memory), but you also find 120W charging (and 50W wireless) on the almost 5,000 mAh battery for the Pro model. But the basic model does little less, they reach 90W of charging via cable (always 50W for wireless charging) for the 4610 mAh battery.
The devices Xiaomi 14 can be pre-ordered in China at a starting price of 3.999 CNY (527.42 euros) for the basic model e 4.999 CNY (646.81) for the 14 Pro. But we expect decidedly higher prices for when they debut in Italy: we will keep you informed.
